Escape to Vienna’s Golden Age!

Waltz into the new year with Salute to Vienna New Year’s Concert, now a North American Tradition! This dazzling performance evokes a golden age of Viennese music, brimming with energy, merriment, and romance, and is a glorious re-creation of the beloved Neujahrskonzert, the concert that has welcomed the New Year for more than 80 years in Vienna and all over the world.

Led by a witty and charming conductor who is an expert in Viennese music, Salute to Vienna features a European cast of singers, ballroom dancers, and ballet that brings to life the music of Johann Strauss. Backed by the Strauss Symphony, the performance is rich with selections from beloved operettas, elegant dances, lively overtures, and the beautiful Blue Danube Waltz. Celebrate the start of the New Year with Salute to Vienna New Year’s Concert, now a 26 year tradition.

Her Honour, the Honourable Janet Austin, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia

As Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Salute to Vienna New Year’s Concert. Vienna, as a world capital of music and birthplace of many great artists and musicians, serves as magical inspiration for this annual event. How wonderful that Vancouver’s Orpheum Theatre, alongside concert halls throughout the world, will welcome a New Year to the stirring waltzes, operettas and polkas of Strauss, Lehár and Kálmán. On behalf of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, Queen of Canada, please accept my best wishes for a delightful concert and for a most happy New Year, and my congratulations to the talented cast of skilled performers and organizers.
