Zoltán Nyári

Last updated 2016: Hungarian tenor Zoltán Nyári initially began his career as a prose actor at the age of 18, and pursued classical vocal performance during his college years, when he sang in the choir of Saint Stephen’s Basilica in Budapest. After more than 400 performances as company member of the Budapest Operetta Theatre, Mr. Nyári made his debut with the Hungarian State Opera, where he has been recognized with the Jászai Mari, Melis György, and József Simándy Awards.

 

His career highlights include roles as Tamino in Magic Flute, Cavaradossi in Tosca, Don José in Carmen, Don Basilio in Marriage of Figaro, Sergei in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, the prince from Rusalka, Lensky in Eugene Onegin, and the title roles in Tales of Hoffmann and Werther. Most recently, he performed as Erik in Wagner’s Der Fliegende Holländer and the male title role in Tristan und Isolde.
