Jorge Garza

Jorge Garza is steadily gaining recognition as a rising lyric tenor in the USA and in Europe. Recent engagements in Europe include Paul in Hans Krasa’s Betrothal in a Dream, Franz in Philip Glass’ The Trial, Odysseus in Jan Klusák’s Filoktétés, the title role in Janáček's The Excursions of Mr. Brouček to the Moon, Serge/Adolf in Martinů’s Les trois souhaits, Michel in Juliette, and Tito Vespasian in La clemenza di Tito, all at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre. Other career highlights include Fox in Janáček’s Cunning Little Vixen (South-Bohemian Theater), Entertainer in Schlingensief’s Mea Culpa (Wiener Burgtheater), Sir Hervey in Anna Bolena (Opéra Monte-Carlo), as well as Don Polidoro in La finta semplice (Musikfestspiele Potsdam). Mr. Garza made his professional debut as Eurimaco in Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria at Los Angeles Opera and his Carnegie Hall debut in Kurt Weill’s Seven Deadly Sins with Detroit Symphony Orchestra under Leonard Slatkin. He can be heard on the recently released CD by Naxos of Manuel de Falla’s El amor brujo and El retablo de Maese Pedro.
