Franz Gürtelschmied

Viennese tenor Franz Gürtelschmied began his international career with the Salzburger Festspiele’s Young Singers Project and has since appeared at major European opera houses and festivals, including the Opéra Bastille in Paris, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, and Budapest Wagner Days. His broad repertoire spans Mozart, Wagner, operetta, contemporary music, and concert music, including Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s The Creation, Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang, the title role in The Gypsy Baron, as well as performances in The Merry Widow, The Csárdás Princess, and West Side Story. He regularly performs in recital, with a particular focus on Schubert, Schumann, and Strauss. In October 2026, he performed Orff’s Carmina Burana at Vienna’s Musikverein.
