Juliet Petrus

Juliet Petrus is known for her effortless coloratura in opera, concert, and recital across three continents. In 2021/22 she returned to China, appearing in the inaugural concert of the Chongqing Festival Orchestra, and in Germany as Queen of the Night at the Hamburger Kammeroper. She made her debut at Florentine Opera as Fire/Princess/Nightingale in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges and Fairy Godmother in Viardot’s Cendrillon, and sang the role of Margaret in the world premiere of Southern Crossings in New York City. Other opera career highlights include engagements at the Grimeborn Festival London, the Theater Baden-Baden (Austria), Austin Lyric Opera, Michigan Opera Theatre, and Glimmerglass Festival.


On the concert stage, Ms. Petrus has performed Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana with St. Louis Symphony, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Lakeview Orchestra, South Bend Symphony, and Alabama Symphony. She has released a solo CD with pianist Lydia Qiu called A Great Distance: A Collection of Chinese and American Art Song, and in 2020, a book called Singing in Mandarin – A Guide to Chinese Lyric, Diction and Vocal Repertoire.
