Niels Muus

Last Updated 2017: Niels Muus studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Denmark, Conservatorio San Martino in Bologna, Mozarteum Salzburg, and at California State University. From 1992-1999, as principal conductor at the Tiroler Landestheater in Innsbruck, he developed a prolific European opera ensemble, and its world premiere of Rued Langgaard’s Antikrist was selected as Critics’ Choice for the best opera recording of 2000 in Gramophone magazine. From 1999-2003, he was conductor and casting director at the Vienna Volksoper. He currently acts as jury chairman for the Spanish Association of Symphony Orchestras’ Concurso de Composición Musical and serves as professor and director of the Master’s program in opera at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna.
