András Deák

András Deák studied choral and orchestral conducting at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music. He was principal conductor of the Danube Symphony from 1991–2021, and has led orchestras including the Wiener Mozart Orchester, Vienna Strauss Philharmonic, Calgary Philharmonic, Vancouver Opera, Chicago Civic Opera, and Budapest Strauss Orchestra. As a guest conductor, he has toured Europe, Russia, Scandinavia, the Middle East, Asia, and North America. In 2004, he was awarded Hungary’s Knight’s Cross for his contribution to musical artistry.
