National Ballet of Hungary
In 2009, the National Ballet of Hungary celebrated its 125th anniversary in the famous Hungarian State Opera House. In the 1950s the Soviet Union’s presence in Hungary brought the influence of the Russian school to the already 150-year-old Hungarian ballet tradition. The company has now grown to 130 members and dances a 10-month season with more than 50 ballets in its repertoire. It has recently moved to build an equal platform on which it can present both the traditional ballets of Hungary alongside western favourites including Onegin, Manon and Swan Lake.
