Last Updated 2018: Matthias Fletzberger began studying violin and piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna at the age of five and was soon known as a piano prodigy. Winning top prizes at prestigious piano competitions launched his career as a recitalist, a soloist with major orchestras, and a collaborator with artists including Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Renata Tebaldi, and Isaac Stern. He launched his conducting career with Marriage of Figaro in Salzburg and Magic Flute at the Vienna Festival, with the Prague State Opera, and at Theater St. Gallen. Future engagements include a new Der Ring des Nibelungen staged by Achim Freyer in Seoul.
